Kryptiva's Teambox™ is centered around the Teambox Manager. The
Teambox Manager is the main interface
for accessing and managing the content of Teamboxes
in a desktop environment -- users invited by a Teambox subscriber
have access to Teamboxes through the web interface provided by the
Teambox Web Portal Service. The Teambox Manager launches
at user login and remains hidden as a Windows tray icon on the
bottom right-hand-side of the screen.
Most operations conducted by the Teambox Manager are done in conjunction
with the Teambox Main Application Service for sharing information
with others and receiving the data shared by others -- files,
ongoing screen sharing, IM, etc. In order to tie into users'
existing habits, the Teambox Manager is also connected to the
Teambox Connector, which ties into Microsoft Outlook in order to provide
the necessary interface for allowing users to create and join
Teamboxes.
The provisioning and federation of both internal and external users
is made possible by the use of the Kryptiva Mail Operator (KMO) and the
Teambox Sign-On Service. The latter can be tied to an organization's
existing directory service (typically ActiveDirectory) through LDAP
-- it can also manage its own user-set using an internal database --
and ensures that only authorized internal users can use the Teambox
services and therefore create and join Teamboxes.
In conjunction with the Sign-On Service, the KMO enables internal users
to securely invite other parties, typically external users, to
Teamboxes managed by the local Main Application Service.
While the above figure illustrates all components as being deployed
in a local environment, there is nothing precluding users from
subscribing to Teambox servers hosted by 3rd party service provides
in a cloud/SaaS configuration. As such, organizations can enjoy
all Teambox benefits while using outsourced
infrastructures.
